Technology refers to the practical application of scientific knowledge to develop tools, systems, and processes that improve human life and productivity (Kotler, P. and Keller, K.L., 2016). Nowadays, technology has transformed advances in many sectors like communication, healthcare, education, and commerce, which help us to connect in today’s world. Nowadays technology is there to check and solve environmental challenges by supporting renewable energy, sustainable manufacturing, and responsible consumption practices (World Economic Forum, 2021).
Positive Impact of Technology
Technology has played a great role in the positive impact on society by increasing efficiency, reducing costs, and improving quality of life. Digital platforms enable rapid information sharing, helping individuals become more aware of environmental issues and sustainable choices (United Nations, 2023). By the help of technology the use of fossil fuels are being less, In place of using fossil fuels people are using electricity. Technology-driven business models to create green jobs and support sustainable economic growth, contributing to long-term environmental and social benefits (Elkington, 1997).

Despite its advantages, technology also has many challenges. Due to the rapid growth of electronic devices, it has increased electronic waste which is making pollution and resource depletion (United Nations, 2023). Due to excessive use of energy from data centers which play a vital role to increase carbon emissions (International Energy Agency, 2022). People are likely to be more reliable on digital technologies which is affecting mental health negatively and reduces face-to-face interaction (Carr, 2010).

Technology is essential in advancing the market for sustainable products, as it enhances transparency, increases accessibility, and fosters stronger consumer engagement (Kotler, P. and Keller, K.L., 2016). Brands are offering comprehensive product details, certifications, and lifecycle information, supporting consumers in making purchasing goods easy and reliable due to technology (World Economic Forum, 2021).

Technology has played a powerful role in living a sustainable life easier and more effectively. Digital tools like energy-management applications and smart home devices which help users to monitor and use energy more efficiently, reducing waste particles/materials achieving to live sustainable life (International Energy Agency, 2022).

On the other hand, it can create problems like electronic waste, increase in energy consumption, and social inequality (United Nations, 2023).
